Summary
Admiral Bobby Ray Inman served in the U.S. Navy from 1951 to 1982, retiring with the rank of Admiral. Over the course of his naval career, he held senior intelligence positions, including Director of the National Security Agency (1977–1981) and Deputy Director of Central Intelligence (1981–1982). Following his military service, he became Chairman and CEO of the Microelectronics and Computer Technology Corporation (MCC) and later served as Chairman, President, and CEO of Westmark Systems, Inc. He also chaired the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas from 1987 to 1990. Admiral Inman graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in 1950 and from the National War College in 1972. He joined the faculty of the LBJ School of Public Affairs at UT Austin in 1987, where he became a tenured professor and held the Lyndon B. Johnson Centennial Chair in National Policy. He twice served as Interim Dean of the LBJ School, in 2005 and again from 2009 to 2010.
